probably won't run out of iron but copper may get harder and harder to extract from the ore it is found in which could keep running the price of it up until we can't afford it. copper wire has gone up in price much faster than other materials because of the rising cost of mining it, it's also getting lesser quality because they are now stripping more of the silver and other metal contents out of it allowing it to corrode easier even failing in some cases. but our windings can be made with iron wire, Tesla used iron wire in almost all of his motors, it may have disatvantages but also may have advatages no one has thought of.
