Wind can be going 90 degrees at the edge of the field from what it is where your standing. And of course there are sometimes bursts of wind followed almost instantly by calm. So I respect the theory of the uniform wind, but I fly in the reality of the slightly unpredictable breeze.

heck I live in Kansas. Every now and then the wind gets crazy enough it starts dropping houses on in-laws.
