Thanks , I have built several models using miniwax polycrylic
and tissue with very good results - all the finish's have lasted
without problems . when I finished my first 737 it looked very good
till it sat in the sun for 3 days at the NEAT fair
the sun caused the foam under to develop the little bumps and
the tissue lifted in a couple of area's , I was able to repair it
but you can see the bumps if you look close .this is a comon problem
with this type of foam , some model come with warning to keep model
out of sun.
I building a large BAE hawk (same kind of foam) but have come
up with a glass lite - I used 20 min finished -cure epoxy and the heavist
tissue I could get mixed it 75% epoxy 25% alcohol and applyed it the
the same way as with the WBPU
so far the results look excellent , and hopefully will not get the bumps under
the finish . I have lived in Florida so I know how hot it get's down there.
Thank you for the details about epoxy. Your models look fantastic. I think I will try epoxy next time to make a more rigid surface. I like the 3/4 ounce glass cloth because it wraps nicely around compound curves. But with only WBPU, the surface can dent easily. I will try to keep mine in the shade.

I did not think about thinning the epoxy with alcohol. What kind of alcohol, denatured alcohol or isopropyl? I am not a chemist, so no idea what the difference is.
