The stock boom on my mcpx v2 is 5 inches end to end, slightly less installed. It holds as good as you can expect an electric tail to hold when there is no wind. Add some wind and the tail has some trouble catching up on turns. The tail will kick out on collective punches and the stock main motor has some trouble getting you back to altitutde. For its size, this heli does decent, but it sure isn't a 3d monster. It's close to being sport. I've crashed once doing a flip and only broke the swash links. No broken boom, grips, swash or main shaft. The mcpx is surprisingly durable.
I suggest learning to fly my boom is almost 2 inches longer then stock and I have no issues with mine kicking out at all i do back flips front flips side flips just about anything you want to do, if mine kicks out its cause the motor is going out I fly in up to 10mph winds w/o issues Not sure what your problem is with yours.
