For the longest time, I holded it by the cockpit, near the foamy part, from the top. Never had any problems, but after squeezing it so often there, the foam started to loose shape, so I switched to the frisbee/sideway toss. It's very easy to do and the bonus is, no possible damage or prop strike.

Check this video, you can see relatively well how I hold it and launch it since I do it a few times (This is an old video I posted a little while back, so this is for Airpower and other who would be interested only):
