Solder on outside of connectors

So I have since moved on to 3.5mm banana types from HK or similar.
I started using the 3.5mm sets with the Blue matching housings.
They are a pain if you get ANY solder on the outside of the barrel
as they then become difficult to Snap into the housing.

The trick is to wrap the solder end with the little hole with some Alum foil as in cooking stuff. This stops the solder leaking out.
Also don't fill the "cup " in the connector with solder as the wire will displace some.

I'm just reading these pages so hence the late input and a great thread with fab info.
