My Extra 300 with Landing Gear
I've always reserved Dave Powers Extra 300 as a 3D trainer so now I think I'm ready to attempt 3D.
Since I built this with BlueCor FFF, I thought I better add landing gear to prevent roughing up the bottom of the fus. To attach the music wire struts to the fus, I cut some short pieces of cable ties and screwed them in like straps. The tail gear is attached to the bottom of the rudder so it is steerable. Instead of paint, I used colored packing tape for it's stripe design which also adds support to the wings and tail feathers. And I also added two narrow strips of FFF on the bottom side of the fus to add support from twisting.

The maiden went well yesterday!
I set the throws at a minimum so I could trim it for a slow-flying park flyer just to see how she flies.
And she flies nice and easy! Next time out, I'll widen the throws to see how she handles any twists or flex. Then if all goes well, I'll attempt 3D! (and maybe add dual rates as a precaution)
