Using single channel Optic 72Mhz module for conversion

Hi,

I had a problem when I made the cable and installed the Optic 6 Spectra module - one module worked and another did not. I did not feel the Optic 6 Spectra module was reliable in the Aurora.

I have since tried installing the standard single channel 72Mhz Optic 6 module with success.

I have had very good success using the standard 72Mhz module from the Optic 6 using the same wiring described in this post.

Apparently the standard 72Mhz module is regulated to 5v according to post 5 and 6 in this thread.

Since the Aurora uses 7.2v, and the module regulates to 5v, the voltage does not seem to be a problem now and the single channel Optic 6 72Mhz module works well.

I added one piece of electrical tape to the top and bottom of the 72Mhz module and slid it sideways into the cavity for the module on the back of the Aurora 9 - see picture below. After that I installed the Optic 6 72Mhz antenna.

Hope this helps someone else.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne
