Yes. Most of the vendors' stock firmware tend to try to "play it safe" at the cost of accuracy. The modified firmware does its best to implement the requested speed changes immediately instead of trying to smooth them. After switching to the custom firmware running @ 400Hz PWM on my quad, I was able to tighten all control loops for a significant increase in stability. At this point, I won't mess with any other ESC. I simply buy Turnigys and upgrade them right out of the box. The most time consuming part is re-shrink wrapping them
