Yes, North America and Europe were once joined, but that was more than 230 million years ago so that would not reflect on today's surface. I have had several people comment on the Norwegian and Atlantic Canada similarities.
We have had a wonderful summer here with enough rain to maintain lush vegetation. Normally by this time things are starting to look a little frazzled.
I spent this past weekend at the other end of Nova Scotia at the historic Town of Annapolis Royal , originally held by the French from 1605 to 1701 when the British took it over and declared it the Capital of Nova Scotia. Not exactly from The Gaelic heart of Nova Scotia here are a couple of shots.
