Futile. I just went outside. At 11pm the sky is milky gray with 15MW of sodium glare bouncing off the filth in the air. I counted 4 stars. 80 mile roundtrip to anywhere I could possibly see it, and I don't do night road trips any more.

When I was a kid on the western outskirts of Ft. Worth, I could see meteors any clear night and all the major constellations. Spent a lot of time on the roof in summer. In addition to the view it was cooler than the un-airconditioned house.
