Yes, XFoil doesn't really do anything past stall. The optimizer is good for finding useful airfoils in "normal" model regimes. Finding the max Cl, neglecting everything else, does not result in a useful airfoil, and the optimization struggles (mostly because of XFoil convergence issues). However, I'm hoping that the airfoil developed for my AP plane does as well as predicted.
