Thanks again for your help. Unfortunately, this did not work. Eagletree has contacted me and issued an RMA.

I have tried connecting the USB cable to a total of 4 different computers, all with the same result.

So, it looks like there is something wrong with one of the parts.

I'll be sending it back to them and we'll find out what it is.
