Aurora A9 Throttle Lock Feature

Please refer:
1. Hitec 9ch Aurora 2.4GHz_72 mHz Manual
First item under "Important Programming Tips" page 61.

2. Manual - Model Menu programming, item 21 on page 41.

3. Aurora 9ch 2.4GHz Set Up VIDEO

4. Aurora Set up Video #32 = Model Menus Part 13 - Throttle Lock (26 Megs)
. Includes revision of Custom Menu and Adjust Menu (which appears only when sliders and knobs enabled).

Throttle Lock functions only in "Transmit" mode.
To Lock:
Depress Plane Icon and hold down, icon will gray and beep, maintaining pressure until second "beep" is heard and "THRO Lock" has appeared above the plane icon.
To Unlock:
Depress Plane Icon and hold down, icon will gray and beep, maintaining pressure until second "beep" is heard and Thro Lock has appeared above the plane icon.
(If pressure is not maintained long enough, in both cases screen will default to either of Model or System Menu)

1.If "No" is selected at the power up prompt, Throttle lock function is disabled. (not required).
2. Test mode, under "Monitor" manual page 80, does not actuate if Throttle Lock is "On"

Transmit Yes - No.
When Aurora is first powered up, screen prompt asks Transmit Yes / No.
This to allow user to confirm Model name shown is correct and/or enter the settings mode.
[NB: Since V1.07, an assigned switch lock operates same as screen Icon - inoperative until TX is in transmit mode and switch has been toggled, refer later notes below.]

1. Select "Yes" - TX power "On" LED changes from Green to Red and normal transmission occurs. Main screen appears with a TX icon, in a small clear box, upper right of screen is noted "AFHSS On Air"
These indicators remain until TX is either turned off or the settings menu is entered and [MDL Set] selected and Model Name is Changed in which case a new Screen Prompt appears
[Model Select] MODEL > X > MODEL - Y
Model Change to Noname - Y
(Radio Stop)
{yes} / {No}

2. Select "No"
1. TX power "On" LED remains Green
2. Main screen appears with a TX icon, in a small black box, upper right of screen simply noted AFHSS.
3. At conclusion of working "Off Air" TX can be either
a) Turn TX Off to flash new settings to memory and then On for use - or
b) Press and hold the darkened TX Icon for two seconds. Screen will return to the first Screen prompting user to confirm model name is correct and Transmit Yes/No. Any changes to settings will remain but not be flashed to permanent memory until the TX is next turned Off.

28Jul10 added:
V1.07 - New Menu Feature [ThroLock] - Set up Switch Operated Throttle Lock (Hold).
"The switch operated "Throttle lock" is same as some refer to as "Throttle Hold" and is operative only when Aurora is in transmit mode..
Select [settings] > [ThroLock] > Switch say [F] check /amend one position is "On" and the other "Off" > exit to main screen > push small TX AFHSS logo and hold 2 sec in need to start transmission or cycle TX On/Off and select transmit.
. Select settings > [Model] > [Monitor]
. Move throttle stick to any position with switch Off then switch ON. Whilst in "On" position the monitor will show that the position at which switch is turned on is locked and only changes when switch is turned off. "

08 Sep10 added:
Switched Throttle Lock "works the same way as pressing and holding the plane icon from the home screen to lock the throttle once the radio is on. The flight condition warning at start up is what warns you to make sure the throttle stick is in the off/idle position before the radio will enable RF".

28 June 11 Update
Caution: A user defined switch, does not yet default to throttle lock/hold position when TX turned on.
(on software update request list)
Cycle Switch, After TX is switched on, to actuate.
"Still works the same way as pressing and holding the plane icon from the home screen to lock the throttle once the radio is on, similar to using the push button after an Eclipse 7, Optic 6 TX etc are turned on. [/url]

Q. Throttle (Lock) Not Working After Changing Models
A. There is no need to power off and on when changing models on an A9.
Believe greater majority would turn model just flown off then TX whilst walking back from flight line/slope
and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee/relax whatever whilst preparing next model.

" retested several models using the screen icon only - no problems.
Then assigned switch "F" to [THROLock] for those same models with
rear "Off" forward "On", again all worked as described previously.
> apply Throttle lock > tap model name to open selection and change model
> select new model > screen instantly shows:
top line "Model Change to ****
middle line "(Radio Stop) "
bottom line [Yes] [No].
....Select [Yes]
> Initial check frequency screen appears with
"Ready to Transmit"
[Yes] [No]
- select Yes, apply throttle lock, connect power pack
- When ready to fly, switch throttle lock to off, move stick forward and motor starts."
