My shop (basement) is a mess right now cause I'm in the process of moving into a real shop that I have rented.
After pricing basswood and ply (ply being ridiculously expensive) I decided to use 1/8 luan and 1/8 dowelling.
The doweling seems to bend more evenly than square stock or rectangle stock and at 19 cents per 4' length, it's much cheaper and I can just go buy it. No mail order or long drives to a hobby shop. For plug making, since the outside of the plug will be coated with body filler and faired, the surface doesn't have to be flat anyway and it seems to me that even with a hull meant for building, would make sense also, I don't know. What do you think?
