liaudio's P-51 Mustang maiden flight VIDEO in Orlando Florida.

My friend Mike went to visit Sean in Orlando Florida and decided to maiden his Stang in the nice weather down there.
RMason, av8rOC, and liaudio are some of the people in the video.
Enjoy!

I forgot to mention.

liaudio (Mike) learned how to fly last month with the Beaver. He has had about 25 flights total on the Beaver if that. Most of them at night in the dark with flying lights.

10mph winds and low light conditions. Bad time to learn.
He will need some getting use to the aileron inputs. At the end the crash...you notice the plane rolls left towards the ground. He lost the plane for a sec and tried to recover. I think he was too using rudder and held down the right stick to turn left way too long. With ailerons, all you need to do it tap it and let it go in the direction. No need to hold the input unless you want to roll.

Overall I think he did great and will be learning very quick. I donno of anyone else who jumped onto ailerons that quick. :)
You can see how the GWS kit is so easy to fix. I could have that flying in 15 mins if I had a new gearbox. (Which I have so many of)

Oops. Well Mikey left that in at the end. lol

She has nice legs though Sean.;)

I think Mike will do fine with the P-51. It was really hard to determine which way it was going with the low light conditions. I was having a hard time when I got it trimmed out for him. He just got a little disoriented and over controlled it. Easy to do after flying the beaver.:D Too bad you didn't get more of all the people scattering. We all still duck whenever Carlos flies near.

Yeah it was like a bunch of roaches when the lights got turned on. Very funny!

Im sure mike will be fine he handled the Beaver well from day 1. Now me on the other hand, thats a different story.:D

i dont know why i cant use "liaudio" as my username. I log on, but it denies me access. Could i be blocked? I didnt think i was using too many profanities! ****ers.

Anyway. Yeah, i had a great time flying my beaver and mustang that day. Leslie, if i had 20 flights on my beaver that would be a lot! I was surprised at how easy it seemed to fly at first. At first i said.....! towards the ned it got a little hairy. i lost it in the dark sky and didn't know what the hell i was doing at that point! Anyway, thanks again to rob for hooking up my p51 before i flew it and av8roc for helpin me as well. Ill have my beaver crash videos up online soon too.

LI-Audio 1:

My heart goes out to your P-51. (Not you, the plane! ;) )

I just started eflight a year ago on a Pico Stick and TM, and am currently learning ailerons using a Rear Bear. (And to prove it, I tore a wing off the RB second-last time out!) I also have a half built P-51, so I feel your pain.

May I humbly suggest trying 50% dual rates, and laying off the rolls until you have a least 2 successful flights! ;) It helps!

Rob

 :o :o   What!?!?!

Well, considering that I scratched my new paint job on my hood as I recall, my P-51D came in for a landing and it was real weak so, the wind took her away from me and just grazed my hood and had to land her on the hard road surface that day...

You mean that?:D

As soon as the Leg came forward I yelled !!! Oh, RIGHT!!!
Nice doggie.....;)

Carlos - I was wondering when you would catch that.:D Just kidding;) I think Sean and I have come close to giving people haircuts with our Slow Sticks. Everytime I hear that whirring noise behind me I cringe a little.:p

Nice video . . .

I sure feel badly for that fella. I just did that last Wednesday with one of my scratch builts. Trying to fly in low light. Darkness comes early this time of year.

My Mustang awaits it's fated first flight. I will wait for the right conditions. I will wait for the right conditions. I will wait. . .

Regards,

Dale Case
