Here are some more pictures. Apparently the towers and the big building have some sort of historical value... I dont remember what though. Some "great ruler" guy from many many years ago maybe? I forget. Anyway, they were taken near Kabul, so maybe one of you know what it is.

I wonder if the historical photo might be of Bala Hissar .... beloved by the Mogul Emperor Babur ..... estimated date of construction is around the 5th Century B.C. .... that's 2500 years ago ....

It all seems a million miles away from building and flying a 10ft Wing ..... that's for sure ....

Impressive, but I don't believe I'd like to live there. Great pics as usual.
BTW, I printed all your previous pics with captions you added, bound them and took them uptown & left them in the local eatery. People are very impressed & awed by them. Most of them never realized, as I didn't, just what that country looks like. My town only has about 2500 people in it. Thanks again for the pics. Be safe.

Are there no trees in that country at all?

I wondered that too, though in the second picture you can see a bunch--leafless. Winter, there still.

Laine,
Great images. Wow what a place. Looks like just dirt, rocks, sand and not much else.

Stay safe and keep the pictures coming.

Ooops, now that Im more awake, and I have thought a bit more about the pictures up there, the ones of the "city" are near Gahzne (which apparently means something like "death to the infidels" or something). Nice place to hang out if your an American! lol NOT!

Hey Dan, the picture book idea is pretty cool. Feel free to share my email address with anyone who would like to get ahold of me to ask questions ect...

TheSRT10@gmail.com is a good email address for anyone to get ahold of me.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I think, going off these amazing photo's (keep 'em coming!), the only green in this whole country is poppy plantations.

Keep safe Laine.

Laine,
I figured I'd throw a few "green" pictures on your thread, to help show the big picture, I hope you don't mind.

Man, is it still snowing over there? They told us it was starting to warm up. I really don't want to bring all the cold weather crap they issued me. Maybe it makes a difference how far south you are. We're going to be in Kandahar and down toward the Pakistani border.

rclinks,
How is it that you get to fly a Telemaster over there?

Wow. Great pics !!
How did the telemaster land?
I certainly would have thought you had a RC helicopter over there instead of a plane.

Cheers,

Le

Nice RClinks.... no problem man. Post all the pictures in here you want to.

Nice telemaster.... wish I could find a place to fly some planes up here in Bagram. Maybe I will have some time to look around one day and try to get permission to fly a couple planes up here.

For now, I plan to run a truck and maybe have the wife send over 2 of my helicopters.... havent decided on that one yet.

Laine.
