Micro RTF Mod FAQs
Moderators please make this a sticky, so new comers can find mod tutorials with out having to sift through hundreds of pages. I am only getting started with this, and looking to get this nice and long. I hope this will help people looking to mod their AA without searching. Anyone please contribute with links I may have missed or not gotten to yet. I am going to keep the list up-to-date.

Note: I moved this from the other thread because of the bad title. It originally said Aero Ace Mod FAQs. I tried to change the name, but it worked for a day then went back to the original title.

#4 t00fatt Sep 30, 2006 02:34 AM

Old thread can be found here. Also if you like what I've done, give the thread a bump so we can keep it on top. I don't know if this will ever become a sticky.

#5 megaglow_Z Sep 30, 2006 01:26 PM

YAY,its a sticky.
This is wonderfull, thank you so much for doing this.

#6 t00fatt Sep 30, 2006 01:34 PM

Thank you, which ever moderator made this a sticky. Also I have been really busy with class, and work. I am taking two 8 week classes and they are four hours each. So a lot of my time is taken up with class and work, so if there any mods you guys have seen and would like added, just shoot me a PM or post it in this thread.

Thank you for the links! Saves me tons of trouble searching for mods for my X-Twin.

I think any AeroSoarer links should fit in here too. I'll do a little search and post links as I come across them.

Added a Micro Mosquito section, thanks micro_builder for the links.

Here are some things I've noticed/found out about the Picco Z in my 3 days of ownership. Please add to FAQ.

1: Warning about adding weight to the front with sharp objects like pins.
The LiPo battery is mounted in the front of the Picco Z copter. Be careful when inserting metal objects (tacks, nails, rods, paperclips etc) in the front nose of the Z. Puncturing a LiPo is bad. Results can be anything from no damage to dead battery to smoke to flames. So be careful. Here is someone else's picture showing the location of the battery.

2: Sudden severe wobble after crash.
See if the pin is sticking out of the top rotor. The pin is at the center and connects the rotor to the shaft. If so, push it back in. Make sure that both sides of the upper rotor are held by the pin. Get it as deep as you can where the top rotor is still free to flop forward and back.

3: Sudden lack of lift at full charge. Funny noise.
This happened to mine. The fix was to push the main rotor shaft straight down into the fuselage. Mine had come partially out and was allowing the spur (big) gear to spin without moving the shaft/rotor. With no load the prop still spun, but there was enough play that the copter would not lift off. Mine moved down a few mm.

Just some stuff I've noticed in my first week.

Whoa I have been really busy. I had midterms this week. I'm pretty tired now, but tomorrow I am going to add micro builders links, and check up on the piccoZ thread. I am in need of a replacement motor for my picco, I have yet to see someone find a good replacement.

#12 micro_builder Oct 13, 2006 11:19 AM

toofatt, last night i found that the AeroAce Jet motors are pretty much a drop in replacement. the resistence isnt exactly the same, but they're close. now its just a matter of finding that motor without having to gut the Jet!

Thought you may want to throw this in there...

It seems every-other day someone needs a better picture of where to solder their broken off wire back to, so I added the wires into my 3D PiccoZ Receiver model, labeled them, then took a nice close-up screen-capture to hopefully get a view everyone can reference easily... here's the pic, I figure you can just copy it and let me know and I'll delete it from this page so it stays fairly uncluttered here :)
