Tiger Moth on floats - Early Morning Photo!!!
Hey guys,

The stuff dreams are made of:

#2 CheeseWing Aug 10, 2002 10:40 PM

That's my grandpa behind me and I just love the way he's standing, simply in awe of my Tiger Moth!!! . . . reminds me of that famous photo of Wilbur Wright in half-stride as he's watching the Wright Flyer's first flight!!! I think I gave my grandpa the Tiger Moth bug, you know that feeling . . .

I like how your both standing sorta cockeyed.. youve got that "im flying an r/c plane" angle to you. hahah

love the fog on the water.

#7 Martin Hunter Aug 11, 2002 02:38 AM

Will, I thought that was the "is it going to clear that pole on the dock or not?" angle :D

#8 willshep Aug 11, 2002 09:31 AM

Or maybe its the "am i going for a swim?" angle. :D

#9 Paul Penney Aug 11, 2002 11:24 AM

Grandpa looks slumped in awe :D

I need to put a set of floats on the pico cub :D

Too cool!
Any more pics? What floats are you using? Great stuff! More info, more info! Love it.:)

Great pic CW! :D

Is there anybody here who can fly without using 'body english'?

I can't, even when I'm flying while sitting down. :D

Thanks guys !

george l,

The floats are from willshep. They are cut from blue foam and come with all the rigging gear. I covered mine with foam safe 3M77 spray adhesive and applied 2.2 mil yellow tape for the finish. This technique is described in the instructions that come with the floats. What fun they are! ! ! Thanks again Will!!!

In response to Dreamer's comment. . .

"I thought that was the "is it going to clear that pole on the dock or not?" angle "

. . . actually it was the "please make it under the diving board angle!!!"

Thanks for your encouraging comments everyone!!!

Here is the Tiger Moth in port:

Awesome pictures, man. I'm going to get floats for my Tiger Moth too. I saw a guy in the Swedish hobbymagazine "Allt Om Hobby" ("Everything About Hobbies") who had made some himself. My flyingbuddy/mentor Micke rang him up and asked if he possibly could be so nice and make some for me, Micke and my brother-in-law. The latter has an own lake right outside his house. I don't know what material the floats were but I would guess foam or maybe fiberglass. That's it! I'm off to the football(soccer for the yanks)field to do some touch-and-goes!
