and wait till you see how it flies !!!! I can go all over the sky really fast , doing tight rolls and tiny loops , inside and outside , vertical 8's easily , Up and down ... and then slow it waaaay down and harrier it in and hover in close till I can pluck it from the sky ....glides super too ... best of all 2s1200 on a cdmotor runs a loooong time ...lots of FUN :D !!!!! Ya gotta' build one Tone'

Great to see the new forum up and running GPW. Great work by all the fella's involved. I have not flown yet as the wind has not let up since I last posted plus I have been at work. Yes that four letter word. It will be on 2cells / 800mah as you suggested. Possibly tomorrow or Friday. I'll have a report as soon as I can.

You asked about lights...got em, but have not had a chance to put em on. I'll post something when I do.

Hey, love the DIY thing. UFO is a great fit here...and a great flyer.

"Get some Video "......HA!!! Easy to just say ,eh ???
I'd love to make and post videos here... BUT , No camera , and I have slow dial UP which would take me a month to upload...
Besides after all this time , you'd think someone would believe me when I say it flies good .... hahahahahahahaha Schmaybe' not .... You'll just have to believe the EYEWITNESS'S and modelers who have taken the 10 minutes to build one ....

Just a question for you GPW. This build is not going to be quick for me as I am doing a ton of stuff at the same time. Anyway, next ufo won't be per plan with cdrom, since I need a break from the cdrom thing before I go crazy. I did glue up another ufo airframe. This one is 4' diameter, for the ABC guts again.......no, I never learn. Only elevon plane I have had experience with is Jer's Simple Wing, and I found if you start with too much surface movement you're more screwed than not enough. Anyway, should I be making elevons twice the size, or will the three inch deep elevons steer that size disk fine?

Ok... I'll see about bringing the camera this weekend... Maybe we can get a few minutes of video to show-off the UFO. Lights would be cool if they are ready :p

Also, I started on my UFO last night... Thinking that I might stick with a J250 on this one too. Think it'll fly? Or do I have to get the BL gear out of the shed?

Well GPW, just as advertised. An absolute pisser. :) ( Aussie slang for "thats fantastic" ). 2 cells was quick and the hover and harrier were great but 3 cells  it was like a rocket as you said. Vertical was no problem. It loves bitting its backside, no worries their but my rolls where sloppy as usual. Just have to work on those. Great aircraft. Even made me look like I was in control. The only thing I added was 3 x screw top lids from soft drink bottles for finger grips on the bottom of the wing for launching. Vitually no weight and worked well.
Weight W/O Batt 7 1/2 oz
2 x 5 gram Chinese servos
Motor. rewound BM21, 10 turns / 25 g / .7mm wire
9050 Prop
2 cell and 3 cell 800mah Common Sense RC Batteries
Thanks a lot

Many years ago GPW I worked for airline here in OZ. A mate of mine who still is in the industry just sent me some photo's of Oshkosh 2006 and their trip. This photo reminds me of a landing site in a movie about the above aircraft you designed. A bit of subject I know.

boxhead - thanks for the pics... those are too cool.

I like the bottle cap idea too... I would have thought that something like the bottle caps would have changed the handling dramatically.

Hi Uproar90 ( Mike ).
This morning was its maidenflight. Have not flown it without the bottlecaps but it seemed to perform as advertised by GPW (Great ). Flew 2 packs through her this morning and no hiccups what so ever( unusual for me ) in her performance.
