Hi All,

Here's a few specs and pictures of my new F7F.

Span 34"
AUW 11.7 oz. :(
Power 2-DX-A with 8X6 gws props
aileron, elevator, rudder, throttle and retracts :D , Just kidding no LD gear . It is based on some pull out plans by Dave Boddington.

Going out to test fly it now..................

I started working on a plug for a mold of a 36" wing span scale F7F years ago. Maybe I should get that plug off the shelf and finish it. I also used Bluecore foam to carve the fuselage. Let me know how that thing flys.

Bill,

That looks good. My B-25 foamie turned out too big for twin GWS DX-A's, so I'm still looking for a candidate.

How long did it take you to build? Exactly how did you wire the two motors and what battery and ESC? I'm not good with electrical, so please describe the wiring carefully, if you can.

I've got a whole box of foam sheets ready to turn into something and a few DX-A's laying around.

It worked!!!!!

Hi All,

It flew!!! It was very stable even in the bumpy air I was flying in. The climb performance was good but not vertical by any means. After all it's powered by DX-A's!!:D I rolled it a few times and it had a bit of lag due to the nacelles mass and the wings are a bit flexible in torsion. It looked great doing low passes and steep banked turns. I like it!!!I am taking it to the SEFF tonight along with my RRC Edge. Look me up guys and I will tell you all I can.

It took me from Monday eve to Late last night to build. Most of the time was spent on figuring out were to squeeze every thing in. I wired the engines in parallel , basically a Y servo cable, I used a GFS ESC from Radical and it has no problem handling the 4 servos. I used two on the ailerons to simplify the linkages. They sit in the side of the nacelles. I hard wired them in a Y cable to save a little weight. I have more wire in it than necessary but it is a prototype and will do better on the next one….. The battery is a 8 cell Maxell flat pack out of the RRC Edge 540.

Regards
Bill

Russ,

It's not clear. Where are you moving to? I live in Jacksonville, FL and the SEFF show is near Atlanta, GA.

Paint?

Bill,

I know you were rushed to get it ready for SEFF, but do you plan to paint it or color it with markers? It looks great as is, but some semi-realistic paint scheme would really transform it!

This might be the one to try the airbrush on. I'll guess it only adds about 0.10 to 0.15 oz. if you go easy with the paint. I'm also guessing that the dark colors will cover pretty well, so not much paint will be needed.

Or here's another one.

Once I started looking for photos just to check it out, I realized that's a cool plane. It's all motor! I also found a nice 3 view drawing - but I presume you already have one. If you are going to build another one, I can email it to you (file is too big to post here).

Russ,

I'm not too well connected around town regarding the popular flying sights. It's pretty fragmented. Jacksonville is very large, area wise. What area of town will you be moving to?
