Well, after JFRUGE handed over the Giant E-heli, what did I do ?

POORED GOLD INTO IT....

M names OC, I am an alcoholic, and heres what I do best,
not fly, BULID.....

Here is what I started with:

-Raven 50
-Tango brushless setup

Recently aquired:
-4 bladed OH head
-OH balanced blades ($ yikes!)
-Century 55 degree angle box
-Century 60 size UH 60L
-LED kit
-LOTS of Brass tubing, 30 minute epoxy, 15 minute epoxy, BONDO!@ LOL, bandaids, and a level. ( so I can be on the "level", nyuck, sorry)

OK, here is the first pic, its a simple " put the gear inside to get excited" picture.... ( you know we all do stupid thigns like this)

The tail is shown with ply for fit to frame.

The tail seciton, a pain in the arse, with cover now installed. I did not convert it to 4 blade yet, I will do this at the VERY last. The mechanics with the supplied CF frame from JFRUGE, and CNC motor mount. Notice the brackets I had made for the very bottom, those hold the assembley to the heli.

In the picure with the shaft, you see how I reinforced the shaft with epoxy coated wood. This was VERY ahrd to do, as the space is VERY limited.

The last pic should be the mid section of the connection between tail housing and main housing of the Century body. I used a little Bondo to make this perfect, or as close as my patience would allow, not to bad.

I am painting tongiht, so pics tomora of the pianted body.
I reluctantly went with US Coast Guard theme, per the wife...=). I couldn't fint myself to paint this beautiful heli a lame flat black, or borring sea king/navy grey.

couple more pics, the hole enchilada seen unpainted.

The motor mounts on the heli.

And the tail geat, cusotm made by me. I was very proud, first time soldering up brass, very fun.

I did the mains as well. Century's metal rods, were, VERY boring. I soldered springs to the top of shafts, that run down the center of the main shaft, on each leg to create REAL working SCALE suspension...OOOHH RAAAH!

Fun stuff.

also note the cutout in the tail for easy access to my main shaft linkage, this is the rear of the shaft, so I can check the "seat" to make sure everthings ok. I suspect I might have problems with the 5 degree angle in the gear. But I dry tested it and it was fine at 1400 rpms. very little chatter...that I think will also discipate with the foam that I shot into the Tail section, per my friends suggestion. Man, that really worked too!

One more thing, as you can see, the main shaft goes to the rear, meets with the 55 degree tail box, where at the other end of the tail box is a 1/4" FAT cable that goes directly to the tail mech's. I custom made all of that too. Pics will follow to explain this.

Wow, the Blackhawk is one of those scale projects that I will HAVE to do at some point - maybe to my Voyager..........
