Has anyone built this? I have just completed one, and maidened it today. Flies great! Excellent knife-edge, hovers well, seems a good size for Axi 2212/34 and 1320 3S lipo.

3D Hammer from AMA Model Aviation, September 2005 issue. Flat foam plan and build instructions. By Dick Sarpolus.

Seems odd that I can't find mention of it on RC Groups. Mine is fff, but would work well with depron. Pic is before any decoration.

This one is on my list of things to build, but I have about 10 ahead of it. What powere system did you use?

The power was Axi 2212/34, used an 11x7 prop, which I think I like better than a 12x6 that I also tried. Batteries - TP 1320 3-cell lipo, also 1500 and 1700 mAh 3 cells work fine. CC PH35 ESC. I have Hitec H56 servos on the ailerons (1 for both ailerons) and rudder, and a Eflite servo on the elevator. I like the HS56's as I'm always accidentally backdriving my servos when I fit the plane in the old Miata.

The plane has a wide fuse so that must be why it knife-edges well. It hovers almost as well as my FoamtanaS, although it's a little smaller. I'm building another Foamtana and I will get a little more motor on that one. But the Hammer is really great for flat rudder turns, and the rudder is tons of fun. There is the typical weak point at the back of the wing, I have braced it with flat carbon fiber strips down the outsides of the flat fuse sides after a crack.

The blue fff is toughter than Depron, not as brittle. But Depron is nicer to work with.

This Hammer has a special adaptation on it that I plan on testing soon.

very cool, I have an E-flite park 400 outrunner setting around not doing anything...I may have to move up the build on this one. I have a bunch of other FFF plane plans, I'm thinking about building them all one rainy day and setting up a removeable cartridge type control and motor pack...... we'll see.
