how good of compression does ur engine have???

#3 Rusted Oct 08, 2005 04:10 PM

on and off really sometimes wheni go to accelatrate the engine sounds like its drowning and sometimes the engine shoots off.

turn ur engine around past the compression and if it is hard to turn then ur engine should still be good

Sounds like an intake air leak, loose carb or fuel line!!

After one gallon, it should be just broke in good!!

Do you take good care of the airfilter??

Two ways I check my compression:
1. with the head and glow plug on, I turn the flywheel until about 10 degrees BTDC (before top dead center) and hold it there for a few seconds and then see if it is much easier to go past TDC.
2. Take the head off and see how tight the piston and sleeve are; again turning the flywheel see how much of a pinch you get near TDC.

i take quit good care of the filter but it might need a bit of a clean. how does it effect the cutting of the engine apart from being blocked?

If the airfilter is blocked, it will make the engine run rich!!
If you don't clean it often, it will also add to early engine
wear out!!

We have four spares and change about once an hour!!
If it is real dusty, more often!!

My car has three gallons of fuel through it and it
runs fine!!

Brad has a boat motor, OS 21, with about 25 gallons of fuel
through it and it runs great!! It is about 15 years old!!

it turns out it was a bad glow plug and it wasnt working properly. :o

i changed it and it works allright now

i also took the dust cover off fo the airfilter and its running even better now!

Cheers guys
