        Question 2006 international UK bike race

2006 international UK bike race
 
IF this was organised, would anyone on this forum be willing to attend?
We'd probably be looking at summer 2006 at Halifax, Mendip or other suitable venue in the UK. It would probably be over 2 or 3 days and be similar in format to the race at SV, but probably include more racing overall. Trophies and prizes will be available, I'll probably donate the bike I won at SV, so you got chance to get it back! but first it would be good to get an idea of who would make the trip, so please reply here

Hmmm.. the wife and I were already planning to go to England, Paris, and Italy sometime in the near future... that might be an incentive to get our schedule together

Now, how do we go about getting the v2 or v3 to be accepted under the UK racing rules?

Patrick -- just make enough of them and sell them (and make sure that someone here at Radio Control Car Action does a review)!

That works for me. Only question is: How many is enough?

Goes without saying that RCCA would get a bike to review. :)

Can't see there being any problem or objections with anything in modified class;as it's going to be a bike only meeting it should be a bit more informal than the car boys with their works drivers and sponsors.

Bike racing is fun and I don't think any one in the near future is going to retire on earnings from it,even if you become world champion it's hardly going to be an item on the news,but who knows.

Just what is this V2 and V3 anyway,last time we had V2's they sent them from Germany and if they're that fast they might be banned. :D

Apart from one tiny dimension discrepency which I'm sure can be altered, the only thing you need to do is start making them to become a 'recognised manufacturer' then we're in! Be great to see you here! Red Bullie and Jimmy too!

I think the BRMA rules state a minimum wheelbase of 280 mm (11.02 inches). We can setup the v2 to have more or less than that, depending on which triple trees, upper frame plates (to alter castor), or swingarm (long or short) we use. I don't know what led the BRMA to choose 280 mm as a minimum. There are plenty of full scale sport and racebikes that have a shorter wheelbase (in scale).

Wheelbase - Max 320 mm Min 280 mm
Rear Wheel Diameter - Max 95 mm Min 80 mm
Front Wheel Diameter - Max 95 mm Min 80 mm
Any tyre width - Max 35mm
Height of bike inc. rider- Max 300mm Min 240 mm

...but what is required to be a recognised manufacturer? Is there a certain amount of sold bikes required?
What about establishing an open class for every 1:5 scale bike, no matter if series or prototype, stock or modified?
I think we should encourage designers like Patrick (and me ;)) who try new concepts apart from that common design that was developed in the late 80s in Italy and was always, more or less, copied until today. Just compare the new TT Nitro with the old DWA Commando...
When you look at the results of the SV race you will see it makes sense to rethink old concepts.
I would like to participate in a race in the UK with one of my prototypes, just to compare it with the mass produced bikes or even better with some other newly designed bikes. Possibly i will ask one of the experienced british pilots to drive it. ;)
