Home Automation Solutions??

I am looking for a home automation solution for my lakehouse that is an hours drive away. What I would like, is to be able use the internet to control my lakehouse and have the furnace/a/c turn on so that when I get to the lakehouse the house is not really cold or really Hot. Right now, I have to get to the house and turn the heat up and go shopping, or go eat and come back when the house has heated up. Other options like turning on lights, etc would be nice as well.
Does anyone know of such a solution??

Thanks in advance:)

P.S.- I also wouldn't mind any DIY electronics projects that I could do that would solve this.

There's a bunch of different solutions. One of the more feature rich and professional is HAI (as well as being an established company). It'll do security, fire, HVAC and lighting. There are both internet and telephone control extensions. Not exactly cheap.

www.Homeauto.com

Also, you might just want to run through a site like Worthington Distribution for a good spectrum of automation products. www.worthdist.com

I don't know alot about the consumer/DIYsolutions, but I know enough about the pro stuff. I do installer tech support for a company that makes touchscreen controls that integrate with HVAC, multi zone music, media servers, internet, home theater, security, drapes and blinds, cameras, intercoms, etc, etc, etc....everything nobody really needs, but it's cool to show off at a dinner party.

I'll answer whatever questions you have or ask others around here and we probably have contacts with installation companies in your area.

Get a linux box, an IO board with a bunch of relays, and learn to program :D

also try www.smarthome.com. They have some nice options for what you are wanting. Be warned, thier stuff is kind of pricey.
