"By late morning today, however, not everyone in Australia was quite so blithe. "We've still got part of Jamaica stuck to Queensland," said Australian army commander Lt. Gen. Peter Cosgrove. "I think we might have declared war on it. I don't bloody remember. Maybe it's time to go home." '

~(covering eyes, chortling quietly and waiting for the Aussie Reps to notice)~ :D

Hey thats clever stuff!

We do get ignored a bit though... what annoys me is a lot of us Aussies seem hell-bent on becoming a clone of America... *sigh*

Clever article!

Sounds like a bloody good long weekend to me!!! except it doesn't mention feeding Steve Irwin (The Croc Hunter) too a hungry pack of Big Red Roos, that would top it off really well.

Just what the bloody hell is wrong with Aussie Rules football! I like it a hell of a lot better than this sissy rubbish overpaid spoiled
NFL type game. Hah! Gimme another Fosters ....no make that 2, might as well ready for the next booze up.:D :D :D John Z.
My father was stationed in the Northern Territory during WWII.
He was a member of the 5th Air Force. 90th bomb group, 321st squadron AKA the Jolly Rogers. He told me some very funny stories , some wild about being in the land Down Under.

See Ya!

Yeah sad isnt it? :( We are almost the 52nd state. (I don't know much about the US, but I seem to remember there being 51 states, please correct me guys if I'm wrong)
It doesn't help when our TV stations are only required to devote 5% of their time a year (or something thereabouts) to localy produced content. (which they make up for by running telethons for 48 hours straight - yeah yeah, its for a good cause, but 48hours??)

At least you guys have The Wiggles.

Great idea !

The next time I fly over to the General Motors Tech Center in Detroit, I can visit my pals at General Motors Holden's in Melbourne on the way.

And I won't have to get up in the middle of the night to watch Shumi getting his ass kicked by Montoya in the Australian Grand Prix.

Go for it !

Hey Mr Hooper, do you get to see the real racing cars on the F1 coverage, the ones that do overtaking and braking duels and bumping wheels, the V8's, the big bangers, the tin topped touring cars. they're great!! and John Z is right about Aussie rules compared with grid iron Yes, Jim, we also have Bananas in Pjamas.
5*th or whatever state, ROFL, you'd have to make much better beer first!!!! And to be fair we also get crap english TV too.

Sitting back in Godzone country having a beer (Redback, a sharp and full flavoured wheat based beer from Western Australia, nearly as good as South Australian, Coopers, the best, bar none, beer in the world.)

#13 aussie slowman Feb 06, 2002 11:37 PM

Whew at least we wont have to worry about being invaded by hordes of indonesians any more?
And will make my shipping costs from the US much better:D

All sounds very positive. But won't American tourists who come for day trips to Melbourne be downright bloody dangerous when they try and drive rented Holden Commodores on the 'wrong' side of the road ?
Mark my words - Five minutes later there would be outraged posts on the Ezone regarding the dangers and stupidity of RHD cars and the bu**ers would force you to change !
I'm slowly getting cold feet about this. :(

On the topic of F1, I'm hoping Mark Webber has a succesfull rookie year, an aussie driver for an aussie owned teem, things F1 are looking better and better! BTW, I'm a schumi fan, but now Webber is in, things may change :)

Yeah Redback is a great beer, so is the brewery, nice place to visit.
You are right though, Coopers Pale and Sparkling are still the Kings, tho' Crown is a up there with them.
