Harbor Freight Challenge

2 Attachment(s)
The SAM 8 club in the PNW has started a "Harbor Freight Challenge". The objective it to build and fly (without losing) a SAM type airplane using the the power system from a Harbor Freight EPFF foamie.

We are using some of the Al Lidberg Mini Replica kits as well as building from reduced size plans.

I lost my Micro Playboy on it's 3rd flight and I am covering the second one now.

That's a great idea! I saw on the website that you can buy the one for $6.99 - what a deal!

The Lidberg Micro Replicas cost about $25 for a set of 3. These are short kits. So you end up with an investment of about $20 for your first HF Micro Replica.

We have learned that the first thing to do is make copies of the Lidberg printwood so you make another one when you lose one. Every member of our group has lost at least one.

Is the only restriction that you have to use the motor, prop and batteries from the Harbor Freight planes?

That is the only restriction.

We started this when flying HF fomies at one of pur regular SAM contest. It seemed like a good idea. Next month is our first real event for this challenge.

We are thinking about a similar event for FAC but possibly putting the HF power system in embryos. We lose a lot of both embryos anf HF fomies so the challenge is to get your 3 flights without losing your airplane.
