After trashing the QTR, I now have another VTOL void that needs to be filled. :D
I do want to release a build log along with plans for this plane in the future provided it performs well. I need someone who wants to convert all the measurements into pdfs.

I designed this thing to have a lower parts count and be more friendly and responsive in hover/ forward flight. It also needed to be a performer capable of decent performance.

So this thing was born, its the first prototype (which will probably be crashed into oblivion) I also wanted the minimal amount of equipment for decent flight performance.

I just tested hover performance with a KK board coupled to one of the tilt nacceles, funny thing is the right tilt naccele is moving on its own from the forces in flight and it not being plugged into anything. tomorrow i'll test forward flight.

I'm planning on going the ardurino route again using Casses code or RC vertt. Although LF seems to have it completely dialed in. :D

I had more video but I couldn't use any as it was all to dark, I had to go back outside and re shoot it with a :censored: flashlight


also on an unrelated note, CHECK EVERYTHING THAT COMES FROM CHINA. I just got a batch of 100 male/female JST't that have been completely sent with reverse polarity. I set one of my ESC's on fire and lit up the PCB traces on my first KK board on this thing. Also evaporated some wires. :eek:

Nice!

Add a couple of layers of foam to the bottom of the front fuse and make it the first water capable VTOL.

If you go with the Wii controls, I'll be glad to help you if I can.

LF, yeah I may add some sort of pontoons or extension of the wheel pants to act as stability floats for some water landings.

I'm going to give Cass's V 1.8 code a try. Are all the configurable parameters for adusting servo speed/ orientation under the config.h section of the code?

sure, i'll get lots of pics of the current one, I may do a assembly guide, although LF pretty much has covered it with his wii F-35

Do you get both main rotors to tilt on a single servo and use the tail rotor for yaw or are you using differential tilt for yaw?

Differential tilt for yaw controll, the tail motor is fixed. I went this route to reduce parts and it makes the tilt component much stiffer and slop free since each motor has its own servo.

Hmmm... i'm getting this error message when trying to upload V 1.8 to the board. The code compiles ok though.

I'm also really confused, I need to use VTOL DUAL and I know to uncomment VTOL tail and comment VTOL dual.

Also where do I turn off the elevon mixing, I just have the ailerons where left ail servo is and elevator where right servo is?

I used the 1.7 in the F-35. I'm not sure if I ever got 1.8 working.

There is no elevon specific option. In the sketch you define how the servo is controlled, from pitch or roll or a combination if you want elevon type mixing.

Thanks LF, I'll give 1.7 a shot. Do you have a link to the completed code? I'm also using 0023, will 0022 work better or does it matter?
