I will introduce to you here my design of very lightweight yet large electric plane I design and build last year.

Its outer layout is slightly taken from a small Czech build rubber powered free flight model with the same name.

Actually I started a building thread in Parkfly section, as this model is rather ligtweight, has very low wing loading and its minimum speed is somwhere between 17-19 km/h (10-12mph)
As I recieved some critics that this Giant Slow model doesnt belong in the "parkflyer" section, I deleted the building thread there.

Well, now model is flying already more than one year with a great succsess, I decided to share it with you here!

Some specifications:

Wing span: 2,65m (104")
Weight: 3000g (6,6lb)

Really nice slow flyer! I so enjoy RC planes that fly in a scale like manner instead of zooming around at a scale speed five times the Vne of the full size plane.

What is the wing loading? Somewhere around 30 gm/dm2? That's impressively low for such a large plane.

WOW! You are pretty close! :) Wing area is 94,52dm2, which resulted at 3000g flying weight excatly 31 g/dm2.

Regardless of Marabu low weight, it is pretty tuff. I had an unattempted encounter with a tree and model was repaired in a day.
Low wing loading allow me to even catch a thermall ocasionally and gain altitude power off.
Large control surfaces makes this model very easy to fly. It doesnt posess any of bad habbits, it react well to the control inputs and is very predictable in flight.
As it is very large, fly very smooth and it is a great platform for taking aerial photos or videos:

Yes, wing struts are functional. Thats why the wing could be made so light. Also There are no massive wing joiner tubes at the root, but only two short carbon tubes at the fuselage/wing joint.

Motor: TURNIGY AERODRIVE XP C 3548-800

This setup allow very short take of, steep climbing and about 20 minutes of normal flying (some loops, climbs and power off "gliding") with reserve for some repeated landings.

As I saw that aerotowing was almost scale, regarding climbing slope, it is better to pull glider up with more power, so I intend to install another motor, which will give vertical climb performance (3D performance), but I know this power should be handle with care...full power on climbing or towing only.

The motor will be: TURNIGY 4258-800

OOPS, my typing mismatch! Thanks for noticing!

Propeler is APC Electro 13/6,5"

(Corrected now in post above)

The propelers I purchased for the TURNIGY 4258-800 are APC E 14/7" and 13/8".
Will see which will be better.
