I like helis and that seems like a decent price for a 550 FB heli but I just fear the maintenance of helis which I don't enjoy so probably will be sticking with planes. It gets tempting though as people sell their Blade helis soo cheap sometimes. Just saw a 550x for $350 in perfect shape the other day. Still, I'm sure I'd crash it and then have to hate repairing it (even if parts were cheap to acquire).

1200 bucks for a heli - to much for me.

They don't have the 550x out yet. They gave one away at the Orlando Heli Blowout Saturday but they won't be for sale until Jan-Feb....

Looked good but was a kit. Not a BNF or RTF...

Oops, thought that was a BNF for that price. Yeah, probably not a good price for a 550 size once you add flybarless controller although I'm not really in tune with Heli prices. I thought I heard RC Today guys talking about some 600 class machines all ready to go in the $900 range which this would easily get to so...

900 bucks and I would need two - one to fly and one to repair.

not a bad price its in tune with the trex 550 pricing. The kit version comes with the motor and esc as well. i am glad they did the kit for the people who dont want the ar7200bx.

the downside that has people grumbling is that its a little porky for a 550 sized copter

It may be partially assembled but not sure. Box was pretty big though, larger than my Trex 550 box was. May come with AR7200bx too. The AR7200bx is a very good Fbl system from what I heard from a good many pilots I know that have them. I've got a BeastX and it's awesome.

RcToday show had a rundown on some of the different controllers by one of their friends. BeastX was certainly competent but like all others has it's advantages/disadvantages. I think it's big advantage is low hassle for setup including the fact that receiver is integrated. Of course that only is of value to Spektrum guys.

Still, I'd take one of these and keep it instead of sell it if I won it and probably pair it with a BeastX. Doubting though I'll be getting another heli beyond my tiny mcpx anytime soon just due to time constraints even more than budget.
