Now offering a clean and simple way to extend servo wires using a CAT6 cable. The new CAT6 extension boards allow the user to plug up to four servos into the row pins - the servo wires will be extended through a single CAT6 cable and then converted back into servo pin-outs in order to plug into any standard servo controller! The CAT6 Sending Board (#605102) contains servo pinouts which allow the user to connect it to the servo controller using male-male servo extensions (sold separately). The CAT6 cable will plug into the sending board and carry the signal to the Receiving Board (#605108). The CAT6 Receiving Board has a signal boosting chip which will boost the signal prior to sending it on to the servos. This chip insures that even at 100’ away from the controller, the servos run flawlessly! The gold plated CAT6 connectors ensure that there is very little resistance between the controller and the servos. Both the sending and the receiving board contain jumper pins which can be removed in order to isolate power between the controller and the servos. Each board has spare row pins and solder pads in order to accept a power input. The cables and adaptors can replace multiple standard servo extensions to provide a clean and efficient way to wire up your robot, pan and tilt, or any other project that requires extending the wires between the controller and the servo. Could you explain a little how this works?
What happens to the servo PWM signal over a long run of CAT6 if I don't have these sending and receiving boards?
Is there a voltage drop on the receiving end if I don't use a BEC or battery?
So that jumper on the boards is for supplying power with a battery or BEC?
These boards boost the PWM signal?
Can I use one sending board, split the cat6 and use two receiving boards to control two pairs of servos?
The sending board converts the standard servo pinouts into a CAT 6 connector. The signal is sent through the CAT6 cable to the receiving board where the signal is boosted and then converted back to servo pinouts.
Without using the CAT6 sending and receiving boards the system will not be plug and play. You would need to solder connectors onto the wires at each end. The servos may be jittery at long distances when not using the receiving board that has boosts the signal.
The drop is very minimal at 100’
With the jumpers in, the power is shared between the servos and the controller. You can remove the jumper at either end to isolate power.
Yes, the signal is boosted at the receiving end just before the servos.
If you wanted to Y the CAT6 you could use 1 sending and 2 receiving boards.
