Giant Scale P-47 - Top Flite or Hangar 9?

Just looking for some input here, all opinions considered. I am looking very closely at one of these birds but can decide which one. I like that the TF has the cockpit included, but am not crazy about the paint scheme and it's slightly cheaper.

I know they make a RTC, but I am not a builder.

Like the H9 paint scheme better, just cant decide. I am an intermediate pilot/arf builder, this will be my second giant scale war-bird. Thanks in advance for your constructive thoughts.

+1 for the Hangar 9....but I haven't had any experience with the Top Flite one.

I've got both. Go with either plane but I'd recommend you go with the larger engine option in either case as nose weight is usually needed. P-47's are very well mannered flyers. You will like it!

I don't have one, but a guy in my club does. I've heard from several people that it is a great flyer. No in my club has the TF version. :)

She was a ROCKET, best time of my career was in that bird.

Then and now....so sad, she was my favorite. Anyone know of a kit or arf of the convair (as a side note)

Thanks for all the input on the P-47, sounds like the H9 has eeked ahead by a bit. If that orange paint scheme wasn't so orange I would go with the TF, but cant get passed it.

PS

Dweeb, may send you a note if you dont mind when I get to my ESM P-39, you did such a great job, sorry you had some many troubles.

PPS Kerwin, I flew THAT bird, albeit not for frontier.

I have fond memories as a kid growing up loving airplanes in western Nebraska. I Convair 580 was the largest aircraft that would land at our small airport. We would ride our bikes out to the airport just to watch her land and take back off. I never got the opportunity to ride in one but have always loved that plane. I too wish they would make an RC model of the Convair 580!

Don Smith does Convair 440 plans. Out of curiosity and comparing pictures, doesnt look like too much of a stretch to modify. Plans, wood kits, plastics, and fiberglass.
