It's a non-cureable disease, worse than drugs and alcohol.

Maybe we could join a 10 step program.:(:D

There is no such thing as "scraps." They are simply bits which have not yet found a home in an airframe.

I save everything that could be even slightly usable. As a result I often build my micros with little or no virgin wood pieces.

Never throw away anything. I have a work bench with a jig saw, 1" vertical sander, and 4" horizontal sander, and that table is FULL of wood scraps. Its my first go to spot when I need a piece of wood.

Hmm, I'm a sick man!!!

No scrap-just unused

What we need to do,is teach ourselves to go to the box first-short pieces, gussets, braces and ply doublers are all right there.
But they're for "someday" and this ain't it! SAVE THE SCRAPS !!!

My first build was a Tom Hunt Miss Stik and I saved all the left over balsa stock, which came in handy a few weks later when a "one point landing" scrunched the nose back to the cabin section. Turns out the saved "scrap was all I needed to rebuild the nose. I even had enough covering to ge her into "like new: shape.

I probably have enough balsa "scraps" to build a 1/4 scale cub! :)

Too bad the spares can't be joined to create new sheets

Yep -every little scrap is saved, in separate boxes for balsa, liteply, birch ply (and even depron).

Actually they can. When I recovered the new nose on my Miss I simply overlapped the old covering with the new at the bulkhead where the old covering ended. Since it is backed by a solid object even the transparent covering shows no hint of being seperate pieces.
