Visalia Fall Aerotow October 19,20,21

Just a heads up, next weekend is the Fall Aerotow, the usual tow pilots should be there, I flew at the Fall Fest last weekend and I know the field is in great shape, plus all the crops are pretty much at the dirt stage so land outs should be no problem, LOTS of dust devils as thermal sign posts last weekend, and if you are new and curious don't be shy and come on out, maybe someone will let you twiddle the sticks on a big scale ship! A few of us may even be there Thursday.

Looking forward to being there on Oct 20 Dennis!

#3 DEAN GRADWELL Oct 13, 2012 11:23 AM

I have a NIB third scale LET DG 808 for sale. This is a stunning glider and should be flown rather than be in a box. If there is any interest I can bring to Visalia.
Will not ship.

$2550, Does not have molded wings, red interior, one piece wings.

Regards Dean

Dg 808

Sold - I have a new trailer that will fit the wings.

Scott

Be up on Thursday - nobody smoke around my new trailer as it will be "degassing" Spar Varnish from the fresh floor.

All right Scott, looks like I may be there Thursday at around 10:30 am, Rick Shelby will also be there around noon, so maybe we an do a little flying of scale and other types Thursday. And nice score on the DG-808, I have been tempted by that model before.

For a Thursday pre event we had plenty of people out today, the great thing about Visalia is you can bring whatever you have that will fly, (gliders and electric of course) and just fly, we had maybe zero to 3 mph winds today, amazing that it can be so calm in the afternoon here, I must have gotten 30 flights in, (sorry, no scale sailplanes today), had my Parkzone Air Force out patrolling the skies, (word is there was a Russian MIG 15 harassing the locals), tomorrow the 8 and 10 meter models will be out, the weather forecast for the next few days is perfect, clear and calm with nicely developed thermals gradually getting stronger by 4pm. It just doesn't get any better than Visalia.

We had an awesome weekend at Visalia, the weather was perfect with 78 to maybe 85 degrees, winds from 0 to 5mph, nice thermals and best of all some new recruits to scale soaring, and Ryan and Gary gave flawless tows with the DA-120 powered Hanger 9 Pawnee, with the 120 on it the Pawnee was transformed into a machine that can tow the giants!

I want to personally thank everyone that attended this event. We had a great time, the weather was perfect and we had plenty of tugs. I've heard back from flyers and was told they actually got all the flying they could have wanted in one weekend!!

Also, thank you to the volunteers without which I could not have made this happen.

See you in May 2013.

Chris

P.S. I will post pictures from Sherry Shanahan (AKA "The Cookie Lady") as soon as I get them.

And a special thanks goes to Chris Pratt for making Aerotow happen at Visalia, this is the tenth year we have done this and Chris has always been the main guy behind the scenes to make Aerotow a reality at this field, what started out as trying to schedule a few times a year has turned into the 3rd Saturday of each month being reserved for those of us who love Aerotow, may we be so lucky as to have the privilege of another 10 years! Thanks Chris, John Wilson and all the club members of Visalia!

Chris:
I just wanted to say that Sherry is so much more than a "cookie lady".
The list of her talents is too long to post here.

Mac, I don't doubt that at all.

Here are some of Sherry's pictures she took at the 2012 CVRC Fall Aero Tow in Visalia.

Thank you again for all that attended and assisted with the smooth running of this event.

See you again soon.
Chris Pratt
