I have a ops I think .60 exhaust controlled nitro motor .
The local hobby shop has no idea what it is.
Has H.E.W. customs engraved on it .
The hobby shop thinks it is what thy called a super charged because the intake port gets a complete shut off when rotating it . any help.
also i have a 3.5 k&b with the same setup.

You might try Racing Boats-Internal Combustion.

It is just an OPS with exhaust throttle(they were quite popular in the 80's & 90's like your K&B with similar setup. The carb is replaced by a simple ventury, like a c/l or free flight engine, what you see closing and opening while rotating the crankshaft is the rotary disk which time the intake(the staff at your hobby shop doesn't know much about engines:rolleyes:) There is an OPS dedicated thread in the "engines forum":

They were good engines in their time along with PICCO,ROSSI & K&B:)

thank you for the info

what would some thing like this be worth?

It depend a lot on the condition as there is no longer parts available for it and it is no longer competitive for racing. At the most $120<$150 if it has not been abused and decent P/S fit(if it is ABC,some were ringed!). You should put it in the FS/W forum and see what response you have:

Here is one example which didn't sell!

HEW might be H (?) Enigine Works, somebody that tweaked on the engine and used the engraving to match the parts.
Exhaust throttle engines are still somewhat popular on the west coast, not so much anywhere else as they have a better throttle response but are messy engines to run and not that easy to tune.
As far as price goes, you need to find someone that needs one for sport running as these aren't that competitive anymore. OPS engines aren't really sold in the US as they phased out the marine engines in favor of putting more time and money in the other segments of the hobby. If you get offered $100.00, take it and run.

Thank you for the info. I bought a bunch of boats from a woman who's husband died some time back. I think this motor was in this
49" fiber glass hull , no name on it .the mounts fit the motor. This man was into big time boat racing. I guess i will try e bay . And see what happens .
