PBR from franks mosquito boat hobbies.

This is a build of the PBR boat from:

The owner wanted to go with props and shafts instead of the jet drives in which we were told not to use them for a major lack of power.
So I opt to go with a steerable kort nozzle to not look so bad in the stern because of the stepped hull made for jets, you will see what I mean latter.

Here in the first photos you can see where Im going, but I need to shorten the spacer to not push the front deck down so far!

I used water jets in my build of this boat. I used the Graupner Mini-jets powered by Traxxes brushless Verlinon motors and have plenty of power and performance.

Yes jets would be the way to go. With the power of brushless it would get up and move.

Jeff I am looking forward to this build. The weapons and how you will detail them will be very interesting. The Kort Nozzel will be a good compromise and look better too.

My first thought of PBR was Pabst Blue Ribbon, not the boat type. Duh. My dad worked at the Newark NJ PBR plant. Sorry useless info.

Ya I would love to go with the jets, never built with those and it would look really neat in the back of the boat! but owner didn't want to! His boat gotta do what he wants you know!

These pics you can see the stepped hull I was talking about for the jet drives systems. The prop looks ok! but kinda strange!

What do you think John jets or prop? your call!

Scuse the dumby question...PBR=patrol boat river? are these the boats the US used in Vietnam? (Martin Sheen?)

If you are going with a prop, I would ditch the kort nozzle and put a small rudder behind it so it is hard to see. Then, Scratch a couple false drives and you have the best of both. The right prop and motor will perform better using less juice every time.

My sudgestion would be to dump the knozel as it going to look ugly and effect the boats performance behavior. I would go with more of an outdrive like on some go fast boats andmont bthem in where the nozzel/bucket would be. Or mount the shaft in back in that area just enough so that half the prop or 2/3 will project below the hull, then go with a rudder setup. But deffinately ditch that kort knozzel. Even a surface drive will be better asthetically and value wise in the long run. I know it is the end customers choice, but......
