FMS 1400mm V7 P-51D Mustang & P-51B "Razor Back" Mustang

Well folks I just recieved my new FMS V7 P-51 Mustang "Big Beautiful Doll". I thought I would start a new thread for the new 1400mm V7's so as not to clogg up and confuse discussion with the larger brother (the 1700mm versions).

I will be posting unboxing photos later this weekend and some build pictures as well. From the initial pre-inspection ....these are nearly exactly like the larger 1700mm version in thier assembly, wing sparing and the way they have made the wings removable, they're not like the origional V1 thru V6 versions at all. in fact they have more detail and include a more extensive decal detailing sheet from what I have here with my BBD version. I will also be ordering the "Duches Arlene" Red Tails version as well.

The flaps are cut more realistic and not along the aileron lines. It has the same landing gear features the the larger version has and the wheels are swept forward to add stability to ground tracking and prevention of nose overs. It aslo has the same working Gear doors the the larger 1700mm version has.

A nice addition is the new opening canopy...more on that later

So far I am very!!! Impressed with their new version and look forward to getting this beauty to the field. This new version will make all the other prior versions V1 thu V6 obsolete and puts them to shame.

I will be exploring the option to modify and add working pylons for bomb drops and the addidion of a TBS sound system as well.

Looking forward to your review, build, MODS, and fixes. I'll prolly never get this smaller plane as the 1.7m class has me spoiled and not wanting anything smaller. ;) either way your builds are far from a normal build and enjoy em. Subscribed!

I will also be changing out my pilot figure for one of my Modified "Aces of Iron" full bodied figures, but will probably use a 1/8th scale figure

Yeah I know and I believe the Aces of iron 1/7th figure will fit too without having to go down to a 1/8...even though I ordered one just in case...I just did a fit check of the 1/7th full bodied ones I'm doing for the other guys in it ...and it fits...though his legs will need to be made shorter, as well as a bit shorter in the overall body, and its a shoulder to shoulder fit in the cockpit, but it looks good and right size at 1/7th

Update:...the 1/7th "Aces of Iron" is a bit too big, the 1/8th fits perfectly....that's what I ended up useing

Nice box also wonder who designed it...? Lol!

Really 1/7th scale looks good aye? Figured since the 1/7th scale on the 1.7 m was perfect fit it wouldn't be as scale for the 1.45m v7. Interesting how sometimes its hard to get the correct scale down.

The pilot figure they have in it now is the exact same one that is in the 1700mm birds. So the pilot I did for you and the others will fit, but I am going to do a 1/8th pilot (next size down) and see how it compares?
