Fly Fly Fox 3m

I have just ordered Fly Fly's 3 meter fox glider and I am thinking of motorizing it.
How much thrust will I need the motor prop combination to provide to get this model off the ground. The total weight of the glider will be about 3 kilos I think.

ANY HELP??

1.5 - 3 kg of thrust sounds about rite ;-)

100 watts per pound should do the trick so 600 to 700 watts range would be my guess. E-flite Power 46 or equivalent.

Looked good in the air.You may want to turn the rates down a little on the elevator. Landing lookes a little treacherous.
What size motor did you use

1000kv on 4 cells running a 13/6 carbon prop. Pulling only 50 amps wide open

That's awesome!
I bought a FlyFly Swift S-1 and had nothing but problems. Elevator was so pitchy I would stall the tail plane on the slightest adjustment. I flew 4 times with a near crash after stalling out and/or wing dropping repeatedly. I gave up. Never had this problem before. Unpowered though so getting launched from a winch

Give it a shot with the GC 1 " more forward than now and give the elevator 70 % of the throw you got now, and dail in at least 50 % expo.
This should calm it down :)

My set up on the FOX:
Flyfly Fox set up. (2 min 29 sec)

As you can see, not muct elevator throw is needed even in aerobatic:

Fly fly FOX, RC glider on the slope. (2 min 5 sec)

Flyfly MDM1 Fox. (2 min 15 sec)

Flyfly. 3 meter Fox, first flights. (2 min 24 sec)

Flyfly Fox backcam. (3 min 14 sec)

Ahh, yea I had way too much travel on the Elevator it seems although that was the rec'd travel from FlyFly. That sucks!
Nice flying though, maybe I'll try a Fox this time...
