Awesome...I have been waiting for this one..I'll do this kit in Oct...I'm pretty sure this will be alot more popular then the fb belt heli they came out with first..Gives me two months to get lots of feed back on this one.. After reading over the ad well, Looks like they did a nice job on this one And worked out the kinks of previous hk models. The only thing that looks suspect to me are the front and rear umbrella gears. I have learned that with every clone these are usually made with very soft plastic. And of course that god awful canopy needs to go. To bad they just dont throw in a cheapie fiberglass canopy with their kits And just add $10 to the overall price..Anyways I'm all for this one and will start my build in a couple months....Thanks for the Heads up and the post Ye ol Britt Paul .

I liked the older "milk jug" cnopies better than the canopy that is on this. even though they looked alittle cobby they are a lot more rugged. They should reduce the price even more and sell it without a canopy.

The new canopy works well on the 450 size models. I can certainly see the larger ones being somewhat flimsy. However, they have at least made a gesture. I cannot see how they could make the model any cheaper by omitting this canopy. Likely they only cost a few pennies to produce, Glass canopies are readily available. I'll more than likely pull the trigger on one of these come the next payday but I'll have to get the rest of it together in stages so the bank manager at home doesn't see huge chunks disappearing from the account. :o

Buy her some flowers. There is a discussion about this in the other HK550 thread.as well.

Triggers pulled, I have one on the way. If the improvements made are anything like as good as the HK450 TT FBL, I think this will be a nice heli. Keep watching, pics etc to follow.

 I look forward to every detail. what electronics do you have in mind ? Areas i have a big interest in are main and auto gears. Inner t.t rod. ( hope its not made with the cheap hollow aluminum rod like in the 500) umbrella gears and the whole tail unit.

I have these for the cyclics http://robotbirds.com/catalog/produc...oducts_id=2558, a Futaba S9254 for the tail. I will be using a Turnigy T600 1400 KV motor and having just purchased a YEP 45 Amp esc and being very impressed with it, I'm inclined to buy the 80 Amp or 100Amp version for the 550. Stabilization will be from a Tarot ZYX. I have a couple of these now and I think they provide a great bang for the buck. I will of course replace the plastic canopy so it looks like it belongs. I see on the HK pictures a couple of parts missing, the spacer bar and rubber canopy stops are missing (in front and above the aileron and pitch servos) but easily sourced and I will be adding the carbon gyro tray which is an option on the Align model I believe. I'll reserve judgement on the gears and umbrella gears until I have the model in my hands. That said though the ones on my 450 are excellent, I only changed them for Align because of the fan blades on the Align gears, (missing from the HK gears).

Not trying to be a stick in the mud here..But your tail servo the bluebird bms-631..Gets decent reviews..Only its a $12 servo . Ya sure ? Have you ran this servo before ? All your other electronics are nice.:).So this tail servo is throwing me off on your choice is all.

I definitely hear you... I was thinking I would try it, but I still have the same reservations... I'm still trying to figure it out... What are some good options?
