Kyosho 1/8 MK1 & HOR Bible

I have been having a good look through trying to get my head round the best way to rebuild a few of these bikes. I have a few old wrecks now 3 x mk1, 2 x HOR, 1 is well used and the other is still boxed (I'll get some pics up soon)

I have been collecting various items where i can but am still unsure what are the best modding parts to be using during the builds. So all you experienced guy's in the know i am hoping you can add a wealth of knowledge to this post with links of where to buy the stuff too.

Here's what i have found so far.

Vinatage Kyosho on Ebay

GPM Racing Parts

2 Wheel Hobbies

RC Boys

Single Swinging Arm

Aluminum Parts

Steliosh's Site

I have bought so far :-
EZrun Brushless Car 1/18 Motor Combo A2 18t 5200kv

Hitec HS-65MG Mighty Feather R/C Micro Servo

Bearing Set

What are the other must haves for the Mk1 & HOR and are the parts i have already bought correct and up to the job???????

I got quite a few bits from this shop.

Thanks for the mention, but my site has been last updated about ten years ago (or more?!)!
Still... I guess it's useful if you only seek kit info...
Thanks!

There is plenty of good info on there for a newbe like myself, i would recommend a good look through there to anyone who is starting out! :)

Do you think my choice in servo and motor are correct, do you know if they can be fitted in either the Mk1 or the HOR, or are there better choices i should have made?

Does anyone have any decal scans, ie lucky strike suzuki??

There are a couple of threads dealing here with the Kyosho bikes, which are really being updated almost every day. I have never installed a brushless setup and/or other than Kyosho/Futaba electronics. A few months ago, I ran the HOR Honda and the only modern thing I used was a 2S 1700mah lipo battery! Oh... and new ZH tires... All my old tires are cracked from sitting for years on the shelf...

Hi steliosh, do the tyres make much difference an where did you get them from. Cheers

3 Attachment(s)
These are mine. Both original with standard servo equipment no brushless
suzuki has stainless frame option and uprated lemans motor, plus ball raced.
Bit boring really.

The tires makes a world of difference!
Venom GPV-1 Tires fits straight on. Use the v1 compound unless your track is located in Sahara desert or inside a sauna . You might want to trim the inserts though.
Available at www.2wheelhobbies.com

I also got mine from 2wheelhobbies.com
Speed is never an issue with the Kyosho bikes, in my personal opinion... it's the detailed looks and of course the movement of the rider that makes all the difference. There are other bikes made for speed.
I enjoy my KP, my SB-5 and the GPV-1 for speed...

I wana see the Mk 1 s !
They are a bit rare now !

The more i looked i had a feeling this was the case, when someone lent me one many many years ago i cam across one on Ebay and really wanted to be able to res erect some of these, as you say the looks do separate them from the others available. That's why i went for one of these too!!!!! :)

I do see a lot of upgrades for the HOR, but which are the must haves?

I don't want to buy any parts that there is no need to or benefit from.

By the way, i am very impressed with the Marlbro one you have created!

This is a very good post about the Kyosho bikes, http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1548753

Just arrived with Mr post man

http://i1265.photobucket.com/albums/...s/DSC_0772.jpg

And just a bit of advice from another member who was kind enough to PM me,
"all you need are a set of ballraces, rear oil damper, oval gearbox washers, ZH Racing tires, and a cheap Brushless Hobbywing 1/18 motor and esc around 5500kv, the tires are a must as the original ones are plastic I just throw them away"
