How odd a European Championship with half of the competitors from one country. I was under the impression that FAI have some rules regarding continental championships and number of particapants.

Hi Anders,

if you would have read the opening thread, you would have realised, that this not an FAI competition.

The DMFV is the biggest model flying association in Europe, has the longest tradition in Indoor Aerobatics Championships and the competitions are open to all model pilots, no matter what country or organisation they come from.

In this case, we have 30 pilots from 9 European countries and although the German pilots represent 43.3% (13/30) at the qualification round, I am afraid that this figure will be a lot lower for the actual EIAC. Theoretically, there might be no German pilots competing for the title European Champion at all. ;)

Having flown severel WC and EC in F3A and now flying some F3P I was wondering how this competition could bee a European Championship. I should have noticed that it isn`t a sanctioned EC.

Who needs "sanctioning"? All you need is highly motivated top pilots from all over Europe and a good organisation to support and run the competition. ;)

:) Jürgen

P.S.: The IJMC runs the 10th World Jet Masters next year - also without any FAI sanctioning.

No doubt that it will bee a formidable competition. I will most surely be watching your fantastic video coverage. Although I would realy like to see a FAI-sanctioned Championship. F3P has developed enough to earn that!

Regards Anders J

this contest is no European Championship, it's a European Contest.

as there is no European Championship yet. Instead in februari there is a real FAI World Championship.

In 2014 there can be a real European Championship

So Anders, I think this is clear ?

There's a long history in sport of organisations having competitions not quite being as they are named. Just look at the photos of Gernot from ETOC :-) trophy calls him World Indoor Aerobatic Champion.

Will only get confusing if you end up with several European Championships and I'm sure when we have FAI European Championship people will be behind it.

Dave
