Help! Optima 9 RX blue LED won't light

#1 edge_pilot Jul 15, 2012 07:50 AM

Optima 9 RX blue LED won't light

I have an Optima 9 receiver in my 35% and I can't get it to bind so the red and blue light are on on the receiver. The transmitter is in scan mode and both the blue and red LED's are on on it. Why won't the RX bind to scan mode?

I am running a Smart-Fly power box which is supplying my receiver 5.0 volts. I am running the rest of the plane on 7.2volts with high voltage servos. Works fine the way it is binding, I jjust feel safer having both LED's on with the TX and RX.

Scan Mode or Scan Function? Scan mode no longer applies with current firmware,
use of which is strongly recomended for a model of that size.
LED display if effected by firmware version.
Ascertain firmware version in each of the three units as follows:
1. A9 firmware version displays under [INFO].
2. Spectra Module - requires use of HPP-22.
3. Transceiver - requires use of HPP-22.

Current firmware versions and more information under:

Well tried all that again for the 10th time atleast. The TX binds with both red and blue lights on, the RX will only bind with the red light on.

Both are upgraded to the latest and greatest firmware.

This is very confusing to say the least

I have come to the conclusion this is a bad receiver. I have 3 other Optima 9's and they are all working perfect with both red and blue LED's on when the transmitter links. This one I just pulled out of the box and it won't bind properly no matter what.

"The TX binds with both red and blue lights on" ?
Module does not appear to have been updated to V3.01 as after completing scan function
and cycling on/off, then Blue LED should not light again.
Check also that every transceiver has been updated to V2.02(0), as any recent purchase would be.
If firmware does not match, then LED sequences vary as does proper link.

Spectra module setup with Optima Transceiver: Blue LED should glow only during scan function.
Once scan function is completed and Tx cycled On/Off only Red LED is seen.
Refer last two pictures under the ID_Setup page above, then:
". 07 Oct 2011 Update:
Blue LED on Optima V2.02 may not hold steady after ID setup, just a very brief flash.
- so fast easily missed Red LED then holds steady.
Cycle power both TX & Optima to complete and then range test as usual."
After which the module LED should be RED only,
if not then module has not been properly updated to V3.01.

OK, I will admit I am a moron. :censored:

I was updating the TX and RX, but I did not update the MODULE itself.

I now have EVERYTHING updated and the lights work as you say they do. Thank you for your help and patience with my oversite.

Glad you admitted it! (joke). Believe it or not seems like an easy brain fart or senior moment to me, so you really aren't a moron. ;)
