BEVRC Easy Diversity Controller

Hi Gang

I have just purchased the BEVRC Easy Diversity Controller and I have a few questions;

1. Does the system run off 12V?

2. How do you adjust the unit to balance the RSSI voltages from the video receivers?

Kind Regards

Jason

2. How do you adjust the unit to balance the RSSI voltages from the video receivers?I don't know you can. I just use 2 identical receivers. If I want to secify to use one only, I change the channel of the opposite receiver.

Kind Regards

Jason

Hi joel0407

Thanks for the reply. So you don't experience any problems with the diversity controller switching from one video receiver to the other?

Kind Regards

Jason

Yeh, I do mate, when my Tx is very close by and I have the same antenna on both Rx. Like when testing on the kitchen table. As soon as I have a couple of meters distance, it's fine. As I have my 2 x Rxs all connected up in my ground station box, when I'm testing stuff on the bench, I just change the channel of one of the Rx up or down one. Obviuosly when my Tx is on 8 and one Rx is on 8 and the other on 9, the one matching the Tx gets the best signal and stops the switching. When it's switching alot on the bench you get about 1 second lose of video but that doesn't happen when its at distance and makes the change from one to the other. When I'm at distance, I have a patch antenna on on Rx and a Clover Leaf CP on the other.

Hi joel0407

Thanks again for the reply. How have you connected your RX's (photos)?

Kind Regards

Jason

PS I'm using RC305's

Hi joel0407

Two words. NICE WORK!

Cheers

Jase

PS What size is the DC jack on the diversity controller?

#8 joel0407 Jul 12, 2012 05:22 AM

It's the standard. The same as the Rxs. I think it 3.5mm DC. The RSSI leads between the RXs and the Diversity are 2.5mm mono audio type.

The only downside I can see to this diversity system is it doesn't consider the video quality, only the Rx power. The problem with Rx power is the RF doesn't have to come from you VTx. For example, if you use it on 2.4Ghz, here in Australia WiFi networks are 2.4Ghz, as are cordless phones and other household RF appliances. All these will create higher Rx power but worse Video.

I fly far enough away from populated areas and any other RF sources that the only source is from my own Vtx.

Just wanted to know bc the FoxTech Website has some sort of RSSI soldering modification to video Rx?

So I have 2 LawMate VidRx, do I just plug them right in with the monopole headphone jacks?
those Monopole headphone jacks have Audio/Video? (White and Yellow)....
and we power our VidRx separately?

confused?

Nope. Not the Audio/Video leads. Higher end diversity uses that, Oracle diversity, for example.

The BEVRC Diversity requires RSSI output from your Recevier. I think the Sunsky receivers can be modified. That might be the FoxTech thing you are talking about.

Here you see the BevRC Receviers with the RCA Video (Yellow) and RCA Audio (White) with the RSSI in between.

Here you see the RSSI and RCA Video (Yellow) from each receiver, going into the Diverstiy.

Here's the power feed for the Diversity.

This is how I have them laid out. The 2 x RCA video leads out of the bottom of the Diversity are identical video feeds. One goes to my HDD recorder and the other to my Fat Shark goggles.

I have the audio from each receiver goes to the left and right channels of the recorder but not through the diversity.
