ECHLGF-2012, 5-7 October, Wilson, North Carolina
East Coast Hand Launch Glider Festival - 2012

Down East Soaring Society is pleased to announce the 11-th annual East Coast HLG Festival!
This will be a qualification event for the 2014 USA team selection finals,
the final event of the 2012 USA F3K Tour, and the final event of the ESL
HL season.
  • Fun fly, informal contest on Friday, October 5
  • F3K tasks with possible modifications on Saturday and Sunday, October 6-7
  • Best pilots (7 experts and 3 sportsmen, subject to change) go into the Fly-Offs on Sunday
  • Free entry if this is your FIRST ever contest
  • Lunch provided on Saturday and Sunday, on-field dinner on Saturday
  • Pilots meeting 8:30am Saturday, flying starts 8:45am Saturday, 8:00am Sunday
  • Last preliminary round starts no later than 1:00pm on Sunday
  • Teams of 3 pilots (without team protection) can be formed for some
additional smack talk and bragging rights. Team scores will be calculated
and posted during the event. We may have a trophy for the best team.

Registration is active on the web-site. (We ask you to use our own
registration form because ESL registration does not allow us to collect all
desired information - team names, T-shirt size, etc.). The task list will be
available shortly and we will announce it here. We do not expect to have to
limit the number of pilots.

Here is a link to the Google map of the field: DESS field (Google map)

Click the link or the map below to get directions to the field from your place!

Please, make your travel arrangements now and free up your October 5-7 weekend for this great event.
We will be posting more information as it becomes available. Watch this thread for more announcements!

Awesome Oleg. For a guy who has only a fall season to look forward to, it's great to start thinking about Wilson. This year... I will make shirts, and you will be smiling.

Thanks for the support, Mike! :)
Bring shirts for everybody! then we won't have to make any :)

Like your team name, and the special equipment you are planning to bring...

Thanks. Looks like O has a typo on his details. It is Fri the 5th, Sat the 6th and Sun the 7th.

Regi'ed. How about a good old-fashioned pro-am on Friday. I haven't seen one of those at a contest in a while now.

Looking forward to October!

Dan, glad to hear you are planning to come. Sign up on the web-site!

#12 M Seid Jun 22, 2012 07:29 PM

Olgol, does the website want my money?

#13 olgol Jun 22, 2012 08:35 PM

MSeid, it is up to you. You can pay at the field.

All I can say is. We better hope the corn field is cut by the contest. I put the AccentII into it Sunday and it took us about an hour to an hour/half to find it. No telling how many times we walked past the plane and did not see it.
Oleg how can we add our team name if we are already registerd?

Yes, never thought I would have so much fun in a corn field!

I think there's still pollen in my ears!
