Blue Angel Jr vs. Blue Angel SR

1 Attachment(s)
I recently aquired the plans for these two 40 sized planes and thought it would be cool to compare the two plans for differences. Was surprised how different the early version is to the later. Both are MK plans. See pic. I have the blue angle article and it looks like there was a 60 sized version vo the BA jr. Would be cool to see one. The BA jr is 46.5in. long and the BA 40-sr is 50.5in. long.

The Jr looks alot like the 60 size BA Yoshioka flew in the 70s

Hi,

Yes the Blue Angel 60 version that Mr Kato used at WC 1971 and the newer version that Mr Yoshioka used at WC 1973 has similar differences as the 40 size versions above. Then in 1975 Mr Yoshioka had a slightly updated version.

1971, 1973 and 1975 60 size versions below.

Image 1-3:
1971 version (not sure at what place Mr Kato had in 1971 WC with his Blue Angel 60)
This is the big brother to 40 jr.

Image 4-7
1973 version (1 st place World Champion model)
Here You can see the drawing is similar as the 40 SR drawing above but I do not know if the 40 SR was a smaller version of 1973 or 1975 60 size version.

1975 version (placed 4th at 1975 WC)

I have drawing for both 1973 and 1975 60 size versions (and an MK unbuilt kit of 1973 60 size version as well as 40-SR). 1973 version I have digital drawing (TIF and PDF) but not 1975 version (only paper copy).
I have not seen any drawing on MK Blue Angel 60 1971 version but I'm sure it is out there somewhere.

An older 60 size kit sold a few years ago on Ebay and was noted on 8178's Blue Angel build thread on RCU. The buyer posted photos of the purchase. Might be a good place to look at the older version. Looking for the link now.
