AWESOME landing gear for DJI F550, easy build and totally sturdy, all parts fit great

Just wanted to say thanks so much for Rob in the UK for creating an awesome set of landing gear for the DJI F550.
It just came in the mail and only took about an hour to build, I only got the gear and a fixed mounting plate for my Sony Nex5n so I can't comment about the gimbal.

I did have another set or gear who many here have used and it took a day to build and I had to drill all the holes out so the bolts would fit. And when all put together it was a bit flimsy and the gimbal was pretty twitchy on the pitch. And the instructions were horrible.

I am very impressed with this Aeroxcraft landing gear, it's very sturdy and came with a 18 page assembly manual with detailed close up photos so I had no question at all about where parts went.

When I have more money I will add a gimbal.
Tomorrow I'll attach it to my F550 and get some photos from the Sony for the first time.

This link has someones uploaded photos of this landing gear and the GoPro gimbal and they are perfect shots. The photos are at about the middle of the page.

That is my F550 you linked to... :)

I am mostly using it for stills, but will try out some more video later on, but not what I got it for...;)

Waiting for some new batteries to play with and do some more testing on the video side...

I like your setup too... just need to get a tilt on the nex for a bit of stabilizing...

Hello,
i can`t believe it...recieved my landing gear from Aeroxcraft a few days ago, and was getting headache, how i can rig my Sony Nex without a Gimbal on it. Did you get this plate from the homepage order, or was it some private thing...?
looks nice, but what about Vibrations?

i just added another photo of the adapter plate Aeroxcraft made the universal mount for me so I can mount the Sony Nex5n in a fixed position.
Since you don't have one you could just use what it came with and buy a piece of plastic, lexan, or whatever and bolt the solid piece to the gimbal mount and drill a hole in it for the 6mm tripod mount bolt.

The only thing I may add to the landing gear is maybe 4 pieces of a pool noodle or foam to attach to the legs for some cushion on landings.

This gear is very rigid and stiff, there's no flexing at all. Very Very impressed with it.

I'm mounting it today and hopefully will get steady photos and video (gimbal is next on the shopping list.)

I also bought a piece of 4"x4" 1/4 thick square sorbothane to mount between the gear and bottom plate if there's any vibrations.

I finished installing my Aeroxcraft landing gear and bracket for my Sony Nex5n.

I still need to clean up some wires.

I installed my Dragon+v2 OSD, and the Gentled for remote shutter and video for the Sony.

My weight now is a whopping 5lb 11oz (2555 grams) with one battery and the camera.

With 2 batteries it's 6lb 10oz (3016 grams)

I haven't tried to hover yet, I'm going to make a foam casing for my brand new camera.

Here's the very first video with the Sony Nex5n attached to my DJI F550.
It's unedited except the Sony doesn't have a function to flip the video 180 degrees so I flipped it in Youtube.

Zero vibration, I didn't even use the sorbothane. it was a little windy as you can see from the flagpole.
This Aeroxcraft landing gear is AWESOME.
The video doesn't look that great, I used the Sony Youtube upload program and it only uploads in 640x480

Solid Vid there, Jasper! It is selling me on this gear. Did you spend a lot of time with the other vibration issues of pre-balancing the props and motors? Thanks for sharing! (nice place, BTW!)

I tried to balance the motors but I started doing one and gave up because I couldn't tell any difference.
I have 10" graupners and I also gave up on balancing them. I got them balanced vertically but I couldn't get the hub balanced perfectly.

So the answer no, my rig it not perfectly balanced but its good enough for me.
This landing gear is great, very sturdy and professionally designed. The two main frames are held together with about 20 zip ties, very creative how Aeroxcraft designed it.
And the 18 page instruction manual with detailed pictures is awesome. A little kid would be able to build it.
Obviously there was a great deal of time put into designing it.
I ordered it just from looking at the pictures and it looked cool and seemed sturdy.

Thanks, I saw the pictures of your F550 and loved the way it looked, so I thought I'd give it a try. So thank you very much.

Another quick video with the Sony Nex5n in better resolution.
this Aeroxcraft landing gear is very stable and pretty much vibration free.
