WATTFEST 2012 October 13 and 14, Tampa Florida
Preparations have begun for the second annual WATTFEST in Tampa Florida to be held at the Triple Creek Flying Club (TCRC) flying field. Due to popular demand we will be expanding it to a 2 day event this year. The event hours will be 8AM to 10PM on Saturday October 13 and from 8AM to 3PM on Sunday 14 October.
As of present it looks like we will also have some indoor flying not far from the event on Saturday night. I will post more as it gets closer. We are open to any ideas on what would make this event better and better each year. We are planning on having the very popular Mig shhoing at noontime and again on Sunday if the plane is still flyable by then. We would like to have a couple themed gaggles of WW1, Ww2, airliners, etc at some point during the day. Last year we saw everything from Pre WW1 aircraft to ducted fan aircraft to the space shuttle. Gyrocopters, helicopters, gliders, and anything else that can fly via electric power is welcome to participate. As we did last year, there will be prizes and awards. We will have the TCRC crew cooking for us throughout the day. As more information comes available, we will post it. I know that there are several people that have been working on special unique projects to fly at this event this year. I cant wait to see the variety of aircraft that will be flown. I have attached a link of last years event thread to give you some idea of the venue and the people and aircraft that attended last year. There will not only be night flying available, but an indoor venue available for a $5 donation. This is an AMA sanctioned event.

WATTFEST flyer 1/4 scale Sopwith Triplane with Tacon 110 outrunner
1 Attachment(s)
Heres my newest plane that I have been getting ready to fly at WATTFEST 2012. This is an 80 inch wingspan Sopwith Triplane. It is a very, very scale aircraft including aerodynamic flying wires, detailed brass tipped tail skid and brass bezels around each instrument. I hope it flies near as good as it looks! I hope this is only one of the giant scale WW1 warbirds that will be in attendance. I do know of someone who is planning on bringing a 1/4 scale Fokker Triplane also powered by a Tacon 110. I think we wont be able to resist a dogfight!

It woudl be great if people could post pictures of the planes they plan on bringing. Last year we had electric powered aircraft that covered the full spectrum of E powered flight. I cant wait to see what shows up this year.

WATTFEST 2012 coming soon, Floridas Premier Electric Event!
Well, its time for Brian and I to get to work on WATTFEST 2012. We have already done a lot but we are coming into the home stretch and time to kick it in high gear. Our first order of business is to redo our flyers to refect the new requirements. As soon as we get the new flyers done and printed, we will update the rest of the public announcements to conform to the recent changes. That will kick off the rest of the final preparations for the event that will include final coordianting and communications to include sponsors. Keep in touch for the latest on WATTFEST 2012, remember, it will be a two day event this year. On-site camping available. Since the event will be two days, we will put together some information for those who will be spending the night in the area, hotels, restaurants, etc. to make it easier on our visitors. I hope we get some people posting pictures of aircraft they will be bringing. If the variety is anything like last year, it will cover the spectrum of electric powered aircraft.

OK, I'll be the first to post some pics of models I'll be bringing.
Most of my stuff is on the small side so if it gets too windy I'll be grounded but the models will still be on display. Don't know if I can get all these in the Suburban but I'll try....

Glen, I read your post and looked at all the planes with the idea of helping you prioritize which to bring. Well, after looking at all of the, I have made my decision. Buy a trailer, dont leave any of them at home :) Thanks for letting us know what to expect to see at the event.

This plane serves as a video platform witha controllable video camera in the cockpit and we also use it to tow a video vehicle. My towed video vehicle is able to be connected easily to any 60 size or larger fixed wing aircraft. If you would like inflight video of your fixed wing aircraft at WATTFEST 2012, get with me. Here is an example of the type of video you can get from it.

for all those WATTFEST FLYERS here in florida... you may have noticed that TRAC's website was updated to show the event was cancelled. (which was odd since it usually takes an undue amount of time to update anything on that site). WE ( the cd's of the event) are trying to move the event to Triple creek RC club in riverview. About 10 mins south of I-4 off I-75. Me and the primary CD are meeting tomarrow at their club to answer questions and allow the members to vote on it, per thier club rules.
We feel hat Wattfest would greatly benifit from the move as we were almost maxed out last year. And upon listening to your comments and suggustions, it makes sense.

The new club offers:
onsite camping
possible night flying
North facing facility( no sun during the day)
a lot larger overfly are with no " fence" issues
covered shelter
and i am sure other things i have forgotten.

Please chime in , Or send them a email.
WE hope this new feild approves the event and this can become on of the large Electric events in the South. espically for all us stuck down in the lower parts of Florida.

Wish us luck.. Hope to see you all in October.
