Big S-3 Viking progress

1 Attachment(s)
Thought I would share a shot of the progress of my 82" S-3 Viking. 2 x 90mm fans (or prop conversion), off the shelf (non-exotic) retracts. Hope to have it on display at Florida Jets. Won't be finished, unfortunately but maybe by June.

I would love to see one of these! I was in VS-21 when we shut down the squadron and was very sad to see the Hoovers retire. If you kit it, I would be in for one! What squadron colors are you going to put on it?

if someone's looking for a twin 70mm version, there's a kit for sale over on RC Canada right now. think he wants $265 shipped.

didn't mean to hijack the thread, but if someone's interested, it's there. :)

wblacker,
Saw some nice A and B model schemes that I liked (early scheme) which is what I used on my twin 70mm version. Didn't care for any othe the Lo-Viz schemes but fell in love with, and decided on, the CONA (Centennial of Naval Aviation) VX-30 celebratory scheme which uses WWII medium blue over grey colors.

Rich, send me your email address, I have lots of pictures I took while flying! The avatar is a self shot over near Guam in a Hoover. Did you see the Decom bird from VS -21?

I've been watching this thread waiting for any new progress. I hope this plane actually comes to being as a kit. I definitely want one. I've got many hours riding in the back of the US-3A as a plane captain/maintenance crew whenever we left our base in the Philippines and went on TAD to support the carrier battle group. I want to model one to resemble 'Miss Piggy" as the US-3A was called.
