School Project

I am currently in college working on my senior design project. For this project I need an aircraft to represent the RQ-11 raven military UAV. Does anyone have any ideas as for a plane that resembles this craft?

do you mean, like this one: http://www.nitroplanes.com/projet-003-rq11.html

The real thing.

Edit: Wintr posted while I was looking up pics. His link looks pretty close;)

Yep, this is the first thing we looked at. Unfortunately, they are completely out of stock everywhere. Everywhere. Even one place that listed it in stock doesn't have it.

Any interest in building one from scratch? It is a pretty basic platform.

A firebird is close but the tail would need changing, the fuselage would need some modification, and the electronics would be pretty much useless.

Firebird

I actually own an aerobird challenger, so I looked at the firebird/aerobird but we had two issues with them. First, the Firebird/aerobird series are all NIMH/brushed and we prefer LiPo/Brushless, and second, we either need an extra channel. This means either a RTF with a 4th channel for ailerons which we can use for something else, or and ARF for which we can use my transmitter some 6 channel receiver.
Right now we are looking at the wing dragon. It looks nothing like the raven and is far to light, but it gives us that extra channel we need.

I would just like something that better represents the raven

You could replace the electronics to get the extra channel as well as brushless/lipo capability. You'd have to buy all this equipment anyway if you were to go with one of the models from Nitroplanes or similar.

HobbyKing has a few similar looking models. Take a look on this page.
